ABSTRACT
This is a study on the “Impact of Inspirational
Leadership on Employee Performance; Case Study of Top Rank Hotels Limited,
Abuja”. The study is probing the importance of motivating workers, and what
actually drives their motivations to give their best at work places. This study
is s survey involving 98 workers of Top Rank Hotels Limited who completed
questionnaires given to them. The completed questionnaires were collated and
analyzed, on the basis of which reliable data were
generated and used in
writing up the study report. The workers are relatively young with fairly good
educational background relevant to their work schedules. Among them are those
with diploma and degree certificates who provide leadership at different levels
of work units. The management provides
policy and overall leadership for the organization. The study observed
that the workers are aware of the various incentives provided by management
aimed at inspiring them to greater performance. However, it was observed that
most workers are more particularly interested in those benefits that seen quite
personal and are self-serving such as improved salary, timely payment of
emolument and improved working conditions including bonuses, transport
allowances, housing allowances and gifts/appreciation from management among
others. This and other findings have some implications in presenting workers as
being a bit insensitive to the overall progress of the organization. It also
provides some useful lessons for the management of Top Rank Hotels Limited,
Abuja to more properly align their management styles and incentives provisions
to target what now seems to be the welfare interest of most workers. These,
obviously will assist in curbing the drift of older and more experienced
workers in seeking greener pasture in other hospitality industries.
